Terms & Conditions

The terms governing your use of the Lex platform.

Last updated: 4 September 2026. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

1. About these terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Lex legal practice management platform ("Lex", "the Platform"), operated by Genesys Company Limited (trading as Genesys Now), incorporated in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas ("Genesys Now", "we", "us").

By registering for a demo, activating a subscription, or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and the law firm you represent ("the Firm"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility

The Platform is intended for use by licensed legal professionals and their authorised staff. By using Lex, you represent that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • You are authorised to bind the Firm to these Terms
  • The Firm is a legitimate legal practice operating lawfully in its jurisdiction
  • All information you provide is accurate and current

3. The demo service

We offer a free demo environment to allow prospective customers to evaluate the Platform. The following conditions apply:

  • Demos are limited to two (2) per email address and two (2) per IP address
  • Each demo environment is active for six (6) hours from the time of activation, after which it and all associated data are permanently deleted
  • Demo environments contain fictitious data only — no real legal or personal data should be entered
  • Misuse of the demo system (automated requests, attempts to circumvent limits, entering real client data) may result in permanent exclusion
  • We reserve the right to withdraw or modify the demo service at any time

4. Subscriptions and payment

4.1 Subscription plans

Access to the Platform requires a paid subscription. Current plans, features, and prices are published at lex.law/pricing. Prices are in Bahamian Dollars (BSD) and are exclusive of any taxes that may apply in your jurisdiction.

4.2 Billing

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. Overages (usage exceeding your plan's included quotas) are calculated at the end of each calendar month and billed in arrears. You authorise us to charge your payment method on file for all subscription fees and overages.

4.3 Payment processing

Payments are processed by PowerTranz, acting as our payment gateway, in partnership with Bank of The Bahamas. We do not store card data. Payment is subject to PowerTranz's and Bank of The Bahamas's terms.

4.4 Late payment

If a payment fails, we will notify you and retry. After 7 days of failed payment, access may be suspended. After 30 days, the subscription may be cancelled and data scheduled for deletion (with prior notice).

4.5 No refunds

Subscription fees paid are non-refundable except where required by applicable law or at our sole discretion in exceptional circumstances.

4.6 Price changes

We may change subscription prices with 30 days' written notice. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from within the Platform or by emailing support@lex.law. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your data is retained for 30 days following cancellation during which you may request a full export. After 30 days, all Firm data is permanently deleted.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Platform to:

  • Store or process data for any purpose other than the legitimate management of legal matters
  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or professional conduct rule
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or another firm's data
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or any content designed to damage or disrupt the Platform
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the Platform's source code
  • Resell, sublicense, or provide third-party access to the Platform without our consent
  • Use the Platform in a way that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure

7. Data and confidentiality

7.1 Your data

You retain ownership of all data you enter into the Platform. We process it only to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We will not access your firm's legal data except for the purpose of providing technical support (with your permission) or as required by law.

7.2 Data portability

You may request a full export of your firm's data at any time. We provide exports in open formats (JSON for database records, original file formats for documents). There is no charge for a data export.

7.3 Our confidentiality obligation

We treat all legal matter data held in the Platform as confidential. Staff who access the Platform for support purposes are bound by confidentiality obligations. We will not disclose your data to third parties except as stated in our Privacy Policy or as required by a lawful court order.

8. Intellectual property

The Lex Platform, including its software, design, trademarks, and documentation, is owned by Genesys Company Limited. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Platform for the duration of your subscription.

You retain all intellectual property rights in the data, documents, and content you create or upload to the Platform.

9. Service availability

We aim to maintain Platform availability of at least 99.5% (measured monthly, excluding scheduled maintenance). Enterprise plan subscribers are entitled to the SLA set out in their subscription agreement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service and are not liable for downtime caused by third-party infrastructure providers, force majeure events, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Genesys Now's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the three months preceding the claim
  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of data, or loss of business
  • We do not accept liability for losses arising from your failure to maintain adequate backups of data you consider critical, where we have made export tools available to you

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Genesys Now harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your violation of any applicable law or professional obligation, or any data you enter into the Platform that infringes a third party's rights.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of The Bahamas, except that Genesys Now may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify active subscribers by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
